Khana AI ("we", "the app") is an AI-powered nutrition tracking app. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

Data we collect

• Account data. When you first use the app, we create an anonymous account identifier. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and, if you share it, your name and email address.
• Nutrition data you provide. Your onboarding answers (goal, age, height, weight, activity level, dietary preferences, home cuisine), meal photos you scan, text descriptions you add, logged meals with estimated calories and macros, and weight entries.
• Purchase data. Subscription status and purchase history, processed by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see or store your payment card details.
• Basic technical data. Approximate usage information needed to operate the service (e.g., request timestamps for abuse prevention).

How meal photos are processed

When you scan a meal, the photo is transmitted securely to our server and forwarded to Anthropic's Claude AI service to generate a nutrition estimate. Photos are processed to produce the estimate and are not used by us to build advertising profiles. Per Anthropic's API data policies, API inputs are not used to train their models. We store the resulting nutrition estimate (not the photo itself, in the current version) in your account history.

Service providers

• Supabase — database, authentication, and server functions (hosting your account and meal history).
• Anthropic — AI analysis of meal photos and descriptions.
• RevenueCat — subscription management.
• Apple — payment processing and Sign in with Apple.

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How we use your data

• To provide the service: analyzing meals, calculating your targets, showing your history and progress.
• To improve accuracy: corrections you submit (e.g., answering the app's clarifying questions) may be reviewed in aggregate to improve our analysis prompts.
• To operate the business: managing subscriptions, preventing abuse, providing support.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app: You → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Note that deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription — manage subscriptions in iOS Settings.

Health disclaimer

Khana AI provides calorie and nutrition estimates for general wellness purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical, dietetic, or diagnostic advice. Estimates may be inaccurate. Consult a qualified professional for health conditions, including eating disorders, diabetes, or pregnancy-related nutrition needs.

Children

Khana AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above and, where appropriate, notice in the app.
